PLA produced by Bhagirath is a bio-based and biodegradable polymer made from annually renewable resources, offering a reduced carbon footprint versus many traditional plastics.

PLA is a bio-based plastic with a low carbon footprint currently used in packaging and food service ware, and is increasingly becoming the material of choice for more demanding applications in automotive, electronics and textiles.

We convert Lactic Acid into Lactide Monomers which are then polymerized into PLA thermoplastic resin. The PLA resin is supplied to compounders and converters who produce everything from packaging products to automotive components.

PLA Lifecycle

The lifecycle of Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) is based is a closed loop system. Its environment friendly and create positive impact on environment and reduce negative impact. Wherein we can re-using and recycling products made up of bio-polymers as much as possible and thereafter, at their end-of-life, using various reintegration options to transform them back into feedstock for a new product lifecycle.

The end-of-life options for PLA include reusing, recycling, renewable energy recovery, compost/biodegradation, anaerobic digestion and feedstock recovery.

By closing the loop in this way, consumers, brand owners and manufacturers can use resources more efficiently – securing the return of a valuable material stream and reducing waste in-turn help green ecosystem.

Raw Material For PLA

Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) Bio-Plastics are made from a renewable, Bio-Based material like Sugarcane, Corn, Sugar Beet and Cassava.

Our Technology – PLA

We are dedicated for upcoming commercialization of one of the best plastics ever produced with the havoc characteristics using indigenous technology developed by IIT Guwahati through Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Polymers.

The cost of production and final product price is economical comparatively.

It is having inherent comparable properties such as tensile strength superior than PE and PP, oxygen and water vapour permeability comparable with PET, improved salability, printability and improved process ability.

The developed bio plastic is having significantly improved melt strength for superior film processing, injection molding characteristics for processing of commodity articles and improved melt spinning properties for both woven and non-woven fiber technology.

Our joint venture’s patented bio plastic formulation is heat stable and capable to be used at elevated temperature.
